Knitted wire mesh, also known as demister mesh or knitted metal mesh, is a flexible industrial textile made by circular knitting machines with metal or polymer wires, forming continuous interlocking loop structures similar to textile knitting. Unlike woven wire cloth, its movable loops deliver two-way stretch, outstanding resilience and shock absorption.

Common raw materials include stainless steel, copper, Monel, nickel, PP and PTFE. It can be supplied as flat rolls, corrugated sheets or compressed molded blocks with adjustable density (10%–60% metal volume). Featuring high void ratio (93%–99%), corrosion resistance, high-temperature tolerance and excellent EMI shielding, it is widely applied in gas-liquid separation, mist elimination, industrial filtration, vibration damping, noise reduction and electronic shielding.
  Knitted wire mesh is a special flexible metal fiber material manufactured via circular knitting technology. Single metal or plastic filaments are continuously knitted into seamless tubular sleeves, which are then flattened into double-layer wide strips ranging from 25 mm to 1000 mm in width. Its core structural feature is interlocked sliding wire loops, enabling reversible stretch, elastic recovery and three-dimensional buffering capacity that woven, welded or expanded metal mesh cannot match.

Main Processing Forms

  1. Flat knitted mesh: Original flattened tube for gaskets, shielding sleeves and light filtration;
  2. Corrugated knitted mesh: Crimped to boost thickness and mist capture efficiency for demister pads;
  3. Compressed knitted mesh: Die-calendered into dense filter cores, shock isolators and flame arrestors with customizable porosity.
